Revocation Of PPKM Brings Fresh Wind For Show Business

JAKARTA - The government has officially lifted the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) throughout Indonesia since December 30, 2022 and this is considered to bring fresh air to the show business in Indonesia.

"We are very grateful that the pandemic has subsided so that entertainment-hungry people can watch quality concerts again," said Color Asia Live Managing Director David Ananda to Antara, Thursday.

David said this momentum was a very good opportunity to give what had been missing for two years.

"We are certainly proud if we can bring world artists to Indonesia because that means this country is safe," said David.

Color Asia Live is one of the promoters of the international concert that successfully brought in several world musicians. David and his team held Boyzone concerts (2018), Charlie Puth (2018), Westlife (2019 & 2022), Ronan Kalimantan (2020), The Script (2022), Michael Learns to Rock (2022), and Air Supply (2022).

Talking about inflation and the potential for a global recession, David expressed his belief that under the leadership of President Joko Widodo, Indonesia would not be affected.

"If there is a recession, the effect will be difficult for the performance business because it is difficult for people to eat alone, let alone buy concert tickets. Hopefully, Indonesia will not be affected because I see Indonesia being led by a very great president," he added.

However, continued David, the show business industry must also carefully read the situation as well as be realistic in responding to every market dynamics. For example, music promoters cannot necessarily sell concert tickets at high prices when people's abilities are not too good.

"If you want to sell tickets, the promoter must find ways, for example, lowering ticket prices, providing discounts, and others. So show business players should also not go shopping by selling expensive tickets. It must be realistic and the ideal promoter should not take too much profit because the most important thing is that the industry can run," he concluded.

David hopes that his party can bring in a number of international names from class A with a concert scale at the stadium. Currently, Color Asia Live is preparing a boyband concert from England, BLUE, which will appear at the Pullman Central Park Grand Ballroom in Jakarta, February 14.
