The Government Is Waiting For Singapore To Provide Further Information About Indonesian Citizens Affected By Corona

JAKARTA - The government is waiting for further information about Indonesian citizens (WNI) who have contracted the corona virus in Singapore. Until now, the Singaporean authorities have not explained the details of the identity of the Indonesian citizen to the Indonesian government.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) Teuku Faizasyah explained, the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Singapore has not been allowed to meet Indonesian citizens suffering from the corona virus. The reason is, the patient is still isolated.

Therefore, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore entrusts the emergency number for the Indonesian citizen who is being treated to communicate with the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.

"We cannot meet physically. However, we always communicate with the health ministry in Singapore. That is the most important, because this is the first case regarding our citizens," Teuku said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office, Pejambon, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 5. .

"There is a local stipulation in which the Singaporean side cannot issue the relevant data concerned. So, at this time we do not know for sure and also cannot communicate it to the family," he said.

Teuku said, the Indonesian citizen who is a household assistant (ART) is currently undergoing intensive care at a hospital in Singapore.

He added that all costs of care and treatment for Indonesian citizens with the corona virus were borne by the Singapore government.

"Now, we can ensure that the Singaporean side must ensure that the person concerned is healthy again and during the process," Teuku explained.

Yesterday, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore revealed that an Indonesian citizen who worked as a domestic worker contracted the corona virus even though he had never traveled to China. The 44-year-old woman caught the virus because she worked at the home of a Singaporean national.

"The Indonesian citizen does not have a history of traveling to China (People's Republic of China or China) but is a domestic worker from a Singaporean citizen who has also previously been confirmed positive for coronavirus," said the Indonesian Embassy in a written statement as quoted by VOI on Tuesday, February 4 evening.

The Indonesian citizen who is the 21st victim of the corona virus in Singapore is currently receiving intensive care by the medical team at the Singapore General Hospital.
