Remembering Cliff Burton's Life On His 61st Birthday

JAKARTA - This year is the sixth annual Cliff Burton Day celebration, as officially declared by Cliff's hometowns in Castro Valley and Alameda Regency.

Continuing tradition, host Nicholas Gomez will talk to Cliff's family and friends about their personal memories and valuable time with Cliff.

These stories will bring us back to our influential early days, with deep views on life, time, and location from the never-published phenomenon of music.

Interviews at this celebration will include Connie Burton, Lou Martin, Flemming Rasmussen of Sweet Silence Studios, Mike Overton of Trauma, John Gallagher of Raven, Deen Dell of Vio-lence, Brian Lew and Wald Oimoen of the film/book Murder In The Front Row, and photographer Gene Ambo.

There were also Cliff village friends in Castro Valley, Joe Cabral, then Judd from Judd's Barn, and Tony Martin.

Cliff played in Metallica's first three studio albums Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, and Master Of Pupets and co-wrote classic songs such as Ride The Lightning, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black, Crazy Death, and Master Of Puppets.

Burton's first replacement was Jason Newsted, who remained in the Metallica line-up until 2001. Robert Trujillo joined in 2003 and remains in the band to this day.

Meanwhile, February 10, 2018, was proclaimed as Cliff Burton Day by the supervisor of Alameda Regency. The late Metallica bassist will turn 56 on that date if he were still alive.

Cliff died in a tragic tourist bus accident in 1986.
