Secretary General Of PPP Asked Cak Imin: What Is The Governor's Parameter Not Effective?
JAKARTA - PPP Secretary General Arwani Thomafi, was surprised by the suggestion of the PKB General Chair, Muhaimin Iskandar regarding the abolition of the governor's position. He questioned the parameters of a governor being said to be ineffective in carrying out his duties and functions.
"Well, if a lot of people appear later that are not effective, what should all be disbanded? Yes, that's the question," said Arwani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 2. According to a member of the DPR who has sat in Commission II, there needs to be a parameter that a governor is declared ineffective. So, it's not just a conclusion and proposes.
"Don't be any, as if it was ineffective and then disbanded. Now who are the parameters ineffective? What are the standards?" Arwani said. Arwani suggested that the proposal for the abolition of the governor's position be evaluated. Which one is considered ineffective, the individual or the implementation of the governor himself.
"It was evaluated first, first seen that the ineffective position is the governor or the person, or its implementation and so on," explained Arwani. Previously, the Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar said his party was reviewing the elimination of the position of regional head at the governor's level.
"We are finalizing a study with experts," said Muhaimin, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 30.
Cak Imin explained that the elimination of the governor's position was because basically that function was too ineffective and accompanied by a large budget allocation.
"The first stage was abolished because the governor's function was only to connect between the central and regional governments," he asserted.
This was also conveyed by Muhaimin when giving a speech at the National Sarasehan for the One Century Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Jakarta, Monday, January 30.
The Deputy Speaker of the DPR emphasized that currently the political system of the reform era must be evaluated as a whole.
"PKB proposes direct elections only for presidential and election elections for regents and mayors," he said.
