Ivan Jenner Extensions Contracts With English Premier League Clubs Amid Uncertain Naturalization Processes

JAKARTA - The player of Indonesian descent, Justin Hubner, who wants to be naturalized by the Indonesian national team, has been granted an extension of the Premier League English club, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 19-year-old footballer has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract. This latest deal keeps Hubner automatically at the English club until the summer of 2025.

"Daer Justin Hubner has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Wolves, which keeps him at the club until the summer of 2025," Wolves said in a statement on their website.

Hubner is in the process of naturalizing to become a player for the Indonesian national team. If the process is fast, he may have strengthened the Garuda squad in the U-20 World Cup which will take place in Indonesia.

The player born in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, joined Wolves at the age of 16. He moved to England in February 2020 from Dutch club FC Den Bosch and joined the U-18 team in Compton Park.

His appearance immediately stole the attention of the club so he immediately got his first professional contract seven months later. He then immediately got a promotion to the U-21 team.

"Justin is an international young player for his country, a solid and extraordinary defender in a one-on-one situation. He is good in the air, can play calmly, and we think he has a bright future at football clubs," Wolves wrote.

Hubner became one of the key components on Wolves' journey on the FA Youth Cup last season. In that competition he managed to help the team reach the semifinals for the first time since 2005.

Although it has not officially received Indonesian citizenship, Hubner has defended the Garuda squad in non-competition matches, namely in the test match against France in Spain in November 2022.
