Minister Of PUPR Puji Sukawati Art Market Concept: This Is The Best, The Best
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono praised the concept of the Sukawati Art Market, Gianyar, Bali which is considered one of the best in Indonesia.
Minister Basuki said, the design of the Sukawati Arts Market prioritizes the architecture and local wisdom of the island of Bali. So, apart from being the center of economic activity, the Sukawati Art Market can also be a tourist attraction in Gianyar with locations on the tourism route to Kintamani and Ubud.
"I think Sukawati Market is the best, The Best. Usually the market only consists of one building mass, here there are three buildings, namely Blocks A, B, and C. Under there are tunnels and basement parking so that it does not interfere with traffic," said Basuki who accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the inauguration of the Sukawati Art Market, Wednesday, February 1.
According to Basuki, the construction of the Sukawati Art Market is President Jokowi's order as stated in Presidential Regulation Number 43 of 2019 concerning Development, Rehabilitation, or People's Market Renovation, Higher Education Infrastructure, Islamic Religious Universities, and Primary and Secondary Education Units.
In 2023, 23 markets will be renovated and built by the Ministry of PUPR.
"The president wants us not only to build a big bridge, but also a suspension bridge for the people. We also not only build malls, but also people's markets to drive the local economy," said Basuki.
During the inauguration, President Jokowi conveyed that the completion of the construction of Sukawati Market Block A, B and C would increase the market function as a means of safe, comfortable, clean, orderly, and more aesthetic trade for people. This is also an attraction for tourists visiting the Island of the Gods.
"This is a people's market, we used to remember what the old ones were like and now what the new ones are like. If I saw earlier, the changes were very, very drastic," said President Jokowi.
