Review Of The Point Men: Advertises Hwang Jung Min And Hyun Bin In Simple Plots

JAKARTA - Hwang Jung Min was met with Hyun Bin for his latest film, The Point Men. The film directed by Yim Soonrye was inspired by a real event in 2007 where 23 Korean citizens were prisoners by the Taliban.

Although the story is adapted, the characters and proofs are made different from the original story. The Point Men is the latest action film to be shown in Indonesia.

The Point Men tells of a diplomat named Jung Jae Ho (Hwang Jung Min) who is assigned to save 23 Taliban prisoners in Afghanistan. On the other hand, a Korean intelligence agent NIS (National Intelligence Service), Park Dae Sik (Hyun Bin) was released from prison.

Park Dae Sik was also asked to save the hostages because of his experience. The Taliban asked the Korean side to release all Taliban prisoners from Qabul. However, the request was not as easy as to comply with the rules of the country.

Jung Jae Ho and Park Dae Sik then worked together to negotiate with the Taliban. Will South Korean negotiations be successful? The answer can be found through the film The Point Men.

At first glance there is nothing new from the story of The Point Men. Even Hwang Jung Min's action reminded us of Deliver Us From Evil (2020) and Hostage: Missing Celebrity (2021) which has a similar concept: kidnapping and negotiation.

However, the contest between Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin is arguably interesting. The scene of debate and chase after action builds tension throughout films that create complexity.

Di antara lapisan cerita yang serius, sutradara ingin menyuslip sedikit komedi dengan menjadikan Kang Ki Young sebagai Qasim atau Lee Bong Han, pengambaan asal Korea di Afghanistan. Dialogue Qasim menjadi comedic relief dari konflik The Point Men.

At the beginning of the story, the storyline was very slow to mix with long-winded dialogue. But when the action scene started, this political thriller became cool to watch.

Regardless of a simple plot that tends to be clich, The Point Men can bring Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin together in a tense story. Not to mention Kang Ki Young's presence is quite helpful to bring the story to life.

In addition to the three, The Point Men also starred Jung Jae Sung, Lee Seung Chul, Bryan Larkin, Ahn Chang Hwan, Park Hyung Soo and others.

The Point Men film can be seen on the Indonesian cinema network starting today, Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
