Throughout January, 217 'Cemcreng' Exhausts In Temanggung Were Confiscated By The Police
The Temanggung Police confiscated 217 non-standard exhausts resulting from the Traffic Unit Zebra Operation (Satlantas) of the Temanggung Police during January 2023.
The Deputy Chief of the Temanggung Police, Kompol Minarno, said the hundreds of exhausts were confiscated because they caused noisy noise and violated Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.
"We managed to confiscate as many as 217 non-standard exhausts and 30 motorbikes using non-standard exhausts. We carried out this action 1-31 January 2022," said Kompol Minarno during a press conference on the results of the prosecution of traffic violations, at the Temanggung Police Headquarters Court, Wednesday, February 1.
He conveyed that this activity was an order from the National Police Chief that starting January 1, 2023 the police were allowed to take manual action or ticketing in addition to ETLE action. There are several priorities for prosecution, namely illegal racing, "overload" cargo, vehicles without number plates, against directions, wearing non-SNI helmets, and non-standard exhausts.
"The enforcement of non-standard exhausts is based on public reports that are disturbed by the noise of exhausts and illegal racing, especially at midnight," he said as quoted by Antara.
The Deputy Chief of Police appealed to the public to increase awareness of traffic, discipline, and obey traffic regulations, which is the first capital for traffic safety.
"It should be remembered that traffic accidents usually begin with traffic violations. Therefore, we urge the public to always obey traffic regulations," he said.
He said the hundreds of non-standard exhausts confiscated were then destroyed by cutting them with an iron saw, while dozens of vehicles detained could be taken by the owner after completing the ticket sanctions and were required to replace the exhaust with a standard exhaust.
