The Surabaya DPRD Asks For A Land Cafe For MSME Actors: Entrepreneurs Must Support

JAKARTA - Surabaya asked the cafe owner in the City of Heroes to provide business land for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as an effort to support the development of local MSMEs.

"I hope that cafe owners can continue to collaborate by providing land for local MSMEs so that these local MSMEs can grow," said Deputy Chairman of Commission B of the Surabaya DPRD Anas Karno in a written statement in Surabaya, Wednesday, February 1, quoted by Antara.

According to Anas, the request was submitted after visiting one of the MSME centers initiated by Kopisae in Margorejo, Surabaya a few days ago.

Anas Karno appreciated the Kopissae program, which provides space in its place of business, for the trading activities of MSME actors in the Margorejo area.

The program that collaborates between cafes and MSME players should be an example for cafe entrepreneurs in Surabaya.

"These entrepreneurs should not be deadly, but instead support the development of local MSMEs in the area. By providing space on land for their territory," he said.

According to him, it must be admitted that local MSME actors have difficulty finding suitable selling places, so that their products can be absorbed maximally by the market.

"In this way, cafe visitors can have coffee, while enjoying local culinary snacks in Surabaya," said Anas.

For this reason, the Surabaya City Cooperatives and MSMEs Office should communicate more with cafe entrepreneurs, to adopt this method. So that it can be applied in every village.

"If in every village there are cafe entrepreneurs making this breakthrough, then they can grow MSMEs in Surabaya. This must also be supported by the Cooperatives and MSMEs model like this. Which ends up growing the Surabaya economy," he said.

Meanwhile, the owner of Kopisae Sendi said the collaboration between his party and local MSMEs had been inspired by the survival of local MSME actors during the pandemic. But only now has it been realized.

Furthermore, Sendi said the MSME center in Kopisae had just started earlier this month involving 30 local MSME actors. For the time being, as a trial, MSMEs sell on Saturdays and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. before the cafe opens.

"We will develop this program, we will imitate it as in our branch. The plan will be in Gubeng. This program will develop together with local MSMEs. We plan to have more in Gubeng," he said.

According to Sendi, the MSME center that was initiated by his party had gone through communication with the RT/RW, Kelurahan and Districts.

"We are also part of MSMEs. We invite local MSMEs in the Margorejo area to get a more representative trading place so that their products can be absorbed more by the market," he said.

Sendi added that his party wanted to become a forum for MSME actors who peddle local culinary legends in Surabaya so that they would appear.

"Such as Semanggi culinary snacks, so that Surabaya culinary icons can be sustainable," he said.
