The Government Finally Talks About The Continuation Of The 2021 Electricity Subsidy

JAKARTA - The government ensures that electricity subsidies for the community will continue in 2021. This is still part of efforts to recover the economy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The electricity cost subsidy will still apply in accordance with the prevailing system," said BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday, January 2.

He said, customers with a power of 450 VA will get full fee waivers, aka free. He claims this is proof of the government's siding with economically vulnerable communities.

"In accordance with the President's instructions, we at KPCPEN also have Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto and Mrs. Sri Mulyani, as Minister of Finance recently held a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources so that PLN continues to provide services to people in need," said Erick who is also Chairman of the Committee for Handling Covid and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN).

Erick also explained that the electricity cost subsidy also refers to customers with 900 VA power. This subsidy extension is valid from January to March 2021. Then we will review the possibility of continuing to extend the subsidy according to the conditions of the affected communities.

"The government has decided to extend the time to provide PLN electricity cost relief assistance in the form of a 100 percent discount or free for 450 VA household customers as well as a 50 percent discount for 900 VA power household customers for the next three months, until March 2021," Erick explained. .

In addition, the government also ensures that all social safety devices will continue. All in order to ensure that the handling of COVID-19 is carried out comprehensively between health and economic recovery.

"The government will continue the stimulus program in 2021 for economic recovery and handling of COVID-19, including the procurement of vaccines, cash assistance, interest subsidies, financing for MSMEs and food security," said Erick.
