Crocodile 2 Meter Catch Of Fishermen Evacuated BKSDA

JAKARTA - Officers from the Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) evacuated crocodiles caught by fishermen from the Kuala Penet Fish Auction Place in Margasari Village, Labuhan Maringgai District, East Lampung Regency, Friday, January 1 evening.

Lampung BKSDA officer Muhamad Husen said that after being evacuated the estuarine crocodile about two meters long will be quarantined and then released back into the wild.

He also said that the BKSDA and the Way Kambas National Park Office would trace the cause of the crocodile leaving its habitat and reaching the beachside area near the Kuala Penet Fish Auction Place so that it was caught by fishermen.

"We will study it," said Husen to the media crew as reported by Antara, Friday, January 1.

Husen stated that throughout 2020, conflicts between wildlife and humans were reported in districts in the Lampung Province.

"There have been reports of human-crocodile conflicts in Lampung in every regency, especially in East Lampung, South Lampung and Tanggamus. At Tanggamus there are victims," he said.

He appealed to residents to be vigilant and careful when doing activities in waters close to crocodile habitat.
