Coordinating Ministry For The Economy: Implementation Of B35 Will Be Absorbed By 13.15 Million Biodiesel Kiloliters In A Year

Deputy for Food and Agribusiness at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Musdhalifah Machmud, said the implementation of the B35 program would absorb 13.15 million kiloliters of biodiesel in a year.

"The mandatory implementation of B35 has begun with excellent cooperation from all stakeholders as reflected in the success of the trial in 2022. The volume of biodiesel distribution to be absorbed by B35 is estimated to reach 13.15 million kiloliters," he said in a talkshow Implementation of B35 in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, January 31.

The implementation of B35, which is a mixture of 35 percent of biofuel based on palm oil into diesel fuel (BBM) starting February 1, 2023, is expected to create new jobs.

In addition, the implementation of this policy is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save the country's foreign exchange which is usually used to buy energy from abroad.

Currently, improvements in the distribution of biodiesel in several areas can still be improved through improvements to storage tank facilities, mixing improvements, and even distribution of plant-based fuel producers (BBN).

"Regions where diesel is distributed, B35 biodiesel should also be distributed in the region," he said.

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs as the Steering Chair of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPBD) will continue to play a role in stabilizing oil prices through absorption and rejuvenation of oil palm plantations.

Currently, 16.3 million hectares of plantation land in Indonesia is planted by palm oil with 16 million people depending on the industry.

In addition to raising export levies on palm oil products, we also manage funds and channel them back to improve the oil palm plantation sector. We also manage funds according to the committee's direction while maintaining the precautionary principle," he said.
