JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker), Ida Fauziyah, received an honorary visit (courtesy call) of the Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs, Dato, Dato's series of Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, at his office, today.

At the meeting, the two discussed developments and found solutions to various problems related to the protection of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) or migrant workers in Malaysia, especially the protection of PMI in the domestic sector.

Ida said the issues regarding the development after the implementation of the 1st Joint Working Group (JWG) and the 2nd Joint Working Group from the implementation of the Mutual Understanding Memorandum on the Placement and Protection of Domestic Indonesian Migrant Workers (MSP PMID).

Not only that, Ida also mentioned the matter of the Labor Recalibration Program (RTK) which aims to regularize Foreigncomers Without Permit (PATI) in Malaysia as legitimate foreign workers, and employed by employers/workers according to the requirements of the Malaysian Imigresen Position (JIM) and the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs.

"There are many things that must be discussed regarding the PMI protection scheme for the domestic sector in Malaysia in accordance with the Mutual Understanding Memorandum on the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers in the Domestic Sector (MSP PMID) in Malaysia," he said.

The Malaysian government, said Ida, has issued a version 2.0 RTK policy program, which in its implementation the Government of Indonesia still needs more detailed and clear information from the Malaysian Government for its implementation.

"We hope that the issuance of SOPs will soon be a reference for foreign migrant services without permission who have worked in Malaysia for a long time to run smoothly," he said.

He said the two countries agreed to continue to build good communication in the field of employment so as to create a mutually beneficial relationship.

"I believe, with His Excellency Dato's support in the Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail series, cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and Malaysia, especially in the field of employment, can produce more concrete solutions," he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Interior Minister, Dato' Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail said the meeting of the two officials was a follow-up to the results of a meeting between the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo and Malaysian PM, Dato' Anwar bin Ibrahim Hajj Series some time ago.

One of the things discussed in this meeting, said Saifuddin, was the Recalibration of Manpower 2.0 (RTK 2.0).

According to him, this program will make it easier for PMIs who are already in Malaysia, but have not yet found a employer to be able to continue their work.

"Recalibration or utilizing foreign workers who are already in Malaysia but are not getting a job, if there are Malaysian employers who want to get them, the Malaysian government will make it easier and give approval from the country of origin so that they can take advantage of these foreign workers," he said.
