West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil Appreciates Citizen Compliance On New Year's Eve

JAKARTA - West Java Governor M. Ridwan Kamil appreciates the compliance of residents in various local areas to participate in anticipating the transmission of COVID-19 by minimizing mobility during New Year's Eve 2021.

"The point is this is an obedience from the people of West Java to the appeal of the Forkopimda to celebrate the New Year at home, not to invite events that have the potential to be a crowd or things that are crowded. On behalf of the West Java Provincial Government to express my emotion, I appreciate it, thank you for the extraordinary obedience of the citizens of West Java, "said Kang Emil - Ridwan Kamil's nickname - reported by Antara, Friday, January 1.

Kang Emil said that with the West Java Forkopimda they conducted an inspection of residents' activities at the turn of the night 2020 towards 2021 in several crowded centers in Bandung, Thursday, December 31 evening.

"I reported together with Forkopimda Jabar as well as the Mayor of Bandung to conduct inspections on several roads in the capital city of West Java. The mayor also reported that the city-level team has also moved to the suburbs to check, until now around 22.00 at night the movement is very minimal and even quieter than normal days, "he said.

Kang Emil revealed information from the West Java Police Chief regarding the minimal movement of people on New Year's Eve in 27 districts / cities, indicating that the community complies with the government's appeal to prevent crowds who are at risk of transmitting the new type of corona virus.

However, he also expressed his concern because in the history of life so far, this is the first time to simply celebrate New Year.

"We make this New Year a means of contemplation. Indeed there is a sense of concern, there is a sense of sadness, in the history of our lives this is the first time New Year celebrations are celebrated as simple as this. I think this might be a lesson from our very dense activities, we need to take a break. Of course we will make this New Year a contemplation in facing 2021, "he said.

Kang Emil considers 2020 to be the most difficult year because of the many challenges and tests of life, especially in the health and economy sectors.

"We hope that 2021 according to President Joko Widodo's message is a year of recovery. Both in terms of the epidemiology of COVID-19 as well as 2021 is the year of economic recovery, "he said.

He said that in 2021 the vaccine will already be available and will start to be given in January on a limited basis to priority parties, economic growth has also moved faster.

"We are optimistic, but we must remain realistic. In 2021, perhaps COVID-19 has not disappeared, but God willing, it will decline and the economy will improve but it is not normal. Hopefully in 2021 we will get encouraging positive news," he said.

Kang Emil reported the latest conditions in several tourist attractions in West Java on New Year's Eve, where several vehicles heading to Puncak, Bogor were returned because they were found not carrying COVID-19 free letters.

"The police chief also reported that many cars were stopped and turned over to their place of origin, namely in the Puncak area because they did not carry a letter free from COVID-19 antigen. Now this is a strict procedure in West Java that ensures people traveling to the West Java region are those who have truly proven to be free from COVID-19, "he said.
