JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force targets the cure rate for patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus to reach 100 percent by 2021.

"We must achieve the target of 100 percent recovery and reduce the death rate," said spokesman for the COVID-19 Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, as quoted by Antara in the Task Force's press release in Jakarta, Friday.

He stated that the number of active cases, the cure rate, and the death rate were indicators of the achievements of the prevention of COVID-19 transmission.

As of December 30, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia was recorded as 735,124 cases with the number of patients who had recovered as many as 603,741 people (82.12 percent) and the number of patients who had died 21,944 people (2.9 percent).

According to the Task Force, the number of active cases of COVID-19 in regencies / cities varies widely, but there are 27 districts / cities that need more attention because the number of active cases is more than 1,000.

Wiku explained that in the risk map for corona virus transmission, there were 44 districts / cities that were in the orange zone or moderate risk zone for 16 consecutive weeks from September 6 to December 27, 2020.

However, according to him, there are 16 districts / cities that are in the red zone or high risk zone for four consecutive weeks from September 6 to December 27, 2020.
