Jokowi: Today We Enter 2021 With More Steadfast Steps

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said 2020 is a year full of challenges and uncertainties because the COVID-19 pandemic has hit all over the world and changes the way people live. Even so, he said that Indonesia would enter 2021 with stronger steps than before.

"Today we are entering 2021 with stronger steps. The expensive learning, the incomparable sacrifices for months of the pandemic make us better prepared," Jokowi said through his Instagram account quoted on Friday, January 1.

In addition, he said this year, the government will hold a comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination for all citizens. He also said that currently, Indonesia has secured vaccine supplies from world pharmaceutical companies to meet the demand for vaccines in the country.

"This year if nothing gets in the way, the government will hold a mass COVID-19 vaccination for the public. Indonesia has secured vaccine supplies from Sinovac, Novavax, AstraZeneca, and BioNTech-Pfizer," he said.

Furthermore, he also ensured that social protection programs for people in need such as the basic food card program, the Family Hope Program (PKH), cash assistance, pre-employment cards, village funds, and electricity discounts will continue to be implemented.

"In 2021 we will also continue to fill in infrastructure development and human resources as we have planned. We spend a large budget for the construction of dams and irrigation networks, roads, railways, airports, and flats throughout Indonesia," he stressed. the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.
