Regarding Kaesang Falls Into The Political World, Jokowi: I Give Freedom, But Must Be Responsible
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted to giving freedom to his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, who had conveyed his desire to enter politics.
"I've talked to me, but I always give them freedom. I don't influence, I don't decide," Jokowi said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 29.
Jokowi emphasized that he would not interfere with his children's decisions regarding politics, including Kaesang.
"They already have their own families, must be responsible, decide for themselves, and I will not participate," said Jokowi.
Kaesang's desire to enter politics was first expressed by President Jokowi's eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, on Tuesday (24/1).
According to Gibran, who is also the Mayor of Surakarta, Kaesang conveyed this wish when President Jokowi was returning to Solo.
"What we talked about at the dining table was Kaesang. I was also shocked, he openly told us there was an interest in politics," said Gibran.
Gibran's statement made political parties flock to open the door wide to Kaesang if the youngest son of President Jokowi was serious in fulfilling his wishes.
In line with Jokowi, Gibran also gave freedom to his youngest brother regarding which regional head contestation options to participate in or join any political party.
If Kaesang carries out the wishes he expressed, then there are complete three lines of Jokowi's descent in the world of politics.
Because, apart from Gibran, who is the Mayor of Surakarta, Jokowi's son-in-law or the husband of Kahiyang Ayu, Bobby Nasution, has also been active in a practical political world and is now the position of Mayor of Medan.
