The Denpasar Community Does Not Celebrate New Year's Party 2021
JAKARTA - The atmosphere of Denpasar City, Bali Province towards the turn of 2020 to the new year 2021, is not as festive as last year where people did not celebrate it, because it is currently still facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The government has appealed to no party tonight to celebrate the change of 2020 to the new year 2021, because of the atmosphere in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Denpasar City Public Relations and Protocol Head I Dewa Gede Rai in Denpasar, as reported by Antara, Thursday, December 31. .
He said that compared to previous years, the New Year celebrations in Denpasar City were quite lively, because a week before the end of the year, the "Denpasar Festival (Denfest)" was usually held, which became the municipal government's annual routine agenda.
"At the end of every year, a live Denfest is held along Jalan Gajah Mada, Veteran and Puputan Badung Field. And cultural performances are held at the zero point of Denpasar City (Chess Muka statue). However, this time Denfest is held virtually," he said.
Dewa Rai hopes that the public will obey the government regulations and requests not to hold a New Year's Eve celebration party, because the atmosphere is not supportive, namely the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We hope that the community will have a thanksgiving at the end of 2020, preferably at home to gather with their families. In addition, pray together so that the COVID-19 pandemic will end soon," he said.
ANTARA reporters reported that the situation in the city of Denpasar had been deserted since the afternoon. There is no sign that the community will hold a New Year's party.
For example, in the Puputan Badung Square area, Denpasar City last year, residents had prepared to celebrate the New Year with various activities, such as staging cultural arts, music and others.
But with the COVID-19 pandemic, the public has made themselves aware not to have a year-end release party. They obeyed calls from the government to eliminate the party activities.
