19 Provinces Predicted Heavy Rain On New Year's Eve
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a weather forecast warning stating that 19 provinces in Indonesia have the potential to experience heavy rain on New Year's Day, namely Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1.
The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data and Communication Committee, Raditya Jati said, the 19 provinces include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java and Bali.
Then West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua.
"Specifically for the DKI Jakarta area, BMKG also released a weather forecast that shows the potential for heavy rain on New Year's Eve 2021," Raditya said in his statement, Thursday, December 31.
Furthermore, there is the potential for the same weather to also extend to the capital buffer cities such as Tangerang, South Tangerang and Bekasi.
The details of areas that can experience heavy rain are Tangerang, Cibodas, Karawaci, Pinang and Karang Tengah in Tangerang City and Tigaraksa, Curug, Cikupa, Panongan, Kelapa Dua and surrounding areas in Tangerang Regency.
Then the Pondok Gede area in Bekasi and Serpong, North Serpong, Pondok Aren, Ciputat, East Ciputat and its surroundings in South Tangerang.
"Seeing the potential for heavy rain in some of these areas, BNPB appealed to the public to always be vigilant in facing potential weather that could trigger floods and landslides," explained Raditya.
Raditya also asked all regional policy makers to take the necessary measures to reduce the risk of natural and non-natural disasters at the turn of the new year 2021.
