Unlike Terawan, Budi Gunadi Sets 7 Types Of COVID-19 Vaccines To Be Used
JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin determined seven types of COVID-19 vaccines to be used through Ministerial Decree Number HK.01.07 / MENKES / 12758/2020 concerning Determination of Types of Vaccines for the Implementation of Covid-19 Vaccination which he signed on December 28.
This decision also revokes the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number HK.01.07 / MENKES / 9860/2020 issued by former Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto who previously did not include Novavax.
"Determining the types of vaccines produced by PT Bio Farma (Persero), AstraZeneca, China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm), Moderna, Novavax Inc, Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech, and Sinovac Life Sciences Co., Ltd., as types of COVID vaccines. -19 which can be used for the implementation of vaccination in Indonesia, "said the dictum to a copy of the Minister of Health, Thursday, December 31.
The type of vaccine mentioned in the first dictum is a vaccine that is still in the third stage of clinical trial implementation or has completed the third stage of clinical trial. For the use of vaccines, this is done after obtaining a distribution permit or an emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
Furthermore, even though it has been determined, the Minister of Health is still allowed to make type changes. This is stated in the fourth dictum of the Minister of Health.
"The minister can make changes to the type of COVID-19 vaccine as referred to in the first dictum based on the recommendation of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee (Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization) and heed the considerations of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery."
It is known, Terawan did not include Novavax in the Minister of Health Decree he made. However, under Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the contract with the vaccine company was signed by the President Director of PT Bio Farma (Persero) Honesti Basyir and the number of vaccines imported was 50 million doses.
