13,000 Customers Take ADVANTAGE Of The Electrifying Agriculture Program In West Java

PT PLN (Persero) reported that 12,951 customers in the agricultural, livestock and fishery sector in West Java have benefited from PLN's electricity for their efforts through the Electrifying Agriculture (EA) Program.

This number has increased by 3,444 customers or 36.23 percent compared to 2021 where the number is only 9,163 customers.

The EA program is one of the innovations to increase productivity and efficiency of business operational costs through the use of electricity and modern technology in the agriculture, livestock and fishery sectors.

"By joining the EA, customers can take advantage of modern electrical energy-based technology to boost productivity and reduce their operational costs, so that their welfare will increase," said General Manager of PLN West Java Distribution Main Unit (UID West Java) Susiana Mutia to the media, Thursday, January 26.

Susi detailed that the number of customers who registered for the EA consisted of 3,658 customers from the agricultural sector, 6,846 customers from the livestock sector, and 590 customers from the plantation sector and 1,857 customers from the fisheries sector.

Based on data compiled by PLN UID West Java, EA customers are quite spread throughout West Java.

The three areas with the highest number of customers are Tasikmalaya with 2,481 customers, Sumedang with 1,710 customers, and Cirebon with 1,514 customers.

"EA crossings in the agricultural sector mostly take advantage of electricity in the irrigation process by using electricity rice pumps and mills. In fact, dragon garden farmers or hydroponic plants use light technology engineering to improve the quality and number of products," explained Susi.

It was recorded that until December 2022 the total connected power of EA customers was 406,740,950 volt amper (VA).

This figure grew by 18.96 percent when compared to the same period in the previous year (year on year/yoy).

In terms of total electricity sales, the number of EA electricity sales until December 2022 was 61,449,450 kilo watt hour (kWh) or experienced sales growth of 19.20 percent compared to the same period last year.
