As A Result Of The COVID-19 Pandemic, The Flight Slot At Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Is Only 26 Per Hour

JAKARTA - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, has rearranged the number of flight slots for arrival and departure aircraft to minimize the buildup of potential passengers. This arrangement is made due to the provisions of the load factor which is limited to 70 percent of passenger capacity.

AP 1 Marketing & Service Director Devy Suradji said that currently airlines still comply with the load factor requirements. In fact, Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, also regulates a Notice of Airport Capacity (NAC) or information about airport capacity, from 36 routes per hour to 26 routes.

The details are 14 arrival aircraft movements per hour and 12 aircraft movements per hour for departure.

"If the load factor according to the requirements is not more than 70 percent, we also adjust the NAC because there is an arrival check, which is usually 36 to 14 arrivals and 12 departures. The government's requirement is to only allow a maximum load factor of 70 percent," he said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday. , December 30th.

Ngurah Rai Airport data shows that the number of arrivals on 29 December 2020 reached 6,704 passengers and 5,174 passengers departures. On the same date, there were only 83 arrival and 80 departure aircraft traffic.

If there is a surge in passengers, said Devy, his party will still apply the same health protocol. At the arrival gate, two routes are provided, namely for passengers who are already armed with rapid antigens and those who are not.

According to Devy, this regulation adjusts to the arrival of many passengers who come from Eastern Indonesia and are not facilitated by swab or rapid services.

"So that's it, procedures in AP I are different (there are two routes of arrival) that are different from airports outside Java," he said.

Meanwhile, AP I Operations Director Wendo Asrul Rose said that the terminal area of Ngurah Rai Airport cannot accommodate social distancing requirements.

According to Wendo, under normal conditions the Ngurah Rai Airport terminal can accommodate 33 flights per hour, but due to the health protocol the flight slot can only be served 25 movements per hour.

Wendo said that if the vaccination is successful, there will be a higher demand for aviation services. In the end, the social distancing requirements will also return to normal so that Ngurah Rai Airport can resume serving 33 regular slot flights per hour.

"Now what makes the airport limitation obstacle is related to capacity, the slot for Ngurah Rai Airport was 35 flights, namely 33 regular and 2 irregular (unscheduled)," he said.
