JEPARA - The interest of tourists visiting Karimunjawa, Jepara, Central Java, remains high. Even though it is currently in the midst of conditions and Jepara is in the red zone category for the spread of COVID-19.
"Based on the records of passengers on the ferry to Karimunjawa from December 22 to December 30, 2020, the number of tourists, both domestic and foreign, has reached 1,066 people. Of course the public's interest in traveling is still high," said Head of Sea Transportation, Jepara Regency Transportation Agency, Suroto in Jepara, Wednesday, 30 December.
The number of domestic tourists reached 1,033 tourists. Meanwhile, there were 33 foreign tourists.
Suroto said, since the Karimunjawa tourist attraction opened in October after being closed since March, many tourists have visited Karimunjawa. The number of passengers dispatched varies due to different ships with different numbers of passengers.
Moreover, he continued, until now the Karimunjawa tourist attraction is still open to tourists.
The highest number of passengers on 25 December 2020 reached 248 passengers, while at least 53 passengers on 28 December 2020. For today (30/12) the number of passengers departing for Karimunjawa is 143 people.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, starting this week every tourist is required to pocket an antigen rapid test result letter.
"It should be remembered, that the validity period of the rapid antigen test is three days. Tourists must ensure their departure schedule by implementing a rapid antigen test so that when they arrive at the port, they are not rejected," he said.
For those who have not had the chance to do a rapid antigen test at their place of residence, tourists can undergo the test at Kartini Port, Jepara at a cost of IDR 250 thousand for one test.
Suroto reminded that tourists who want to enter the port will also have their body temperature monitored through a body temperature detector. If the monitor appears red, it is not allowed to leave, on the contrary, if it is green, the body temperature is normal.
There were two tourists who were refused departure, he said, because they did not pass the medical examination through the antigen rapid test.
