SURABAYA - The East Java Provincial Government has asked 38 districts / cities in its territory to implement a curfew from December 29 to January 8, 2021. This measure is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the long holiday and New Year's commemoration.

"This policy is the result of a virtual discussion between the Provincial Task Force and the Regency / City Task Force," said the East Java Provincial Secretary, Heru Tjahjono, confirmed, Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

The East Java Provincial Government issued a circular (SE) numbered 36/24068 / 013.4 / 2020, concerning the implementation of the health protocol for the implementation of the 2021 New Year holiday in East Java.

"The SE is a reference for all regions in East Java, in order to implement a curfew. For technical matters we submit it to each region," he explained.

Several regions in East Java have indeed issued new policies related to curfews, including Surabaya City, Malang City, Sidoarjo Regency, Banyuwangi, and others. This step is to anticipate and prevent transmission of COVID-19.
