Police Ban FPI To Hold A Press Conference Which Was Originally Planned This Afternoon
JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Heru Novianto emphasized that his party had prohibited the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) from holding a press conference regarding the disbandment of their organization.
The plan, FPI Spokesperson, Munarman will hold a press conference to respond to the government's decision through a joint decree (SKB) which prohibits all FPI activities.
This press conference was originally held at the FPI headquarters, Petamburan at 16.15 WIB. However, this activity was canceled because it had been banned by the police.
"Not allowed (press conference) because they no longer have the authority and there is no legal anymore. So, it is not allowed," said Heru in the Petamburan area, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, December 30.
Currently, the TNI-Polri joint is following up on the government's decree by visiting Petamburan, known as the FPI headquarters. From the Eradotid YouTube live streaming, it appears that police personnel and TNI soldiers enter the alleys in Petamburan.
Heru continued, the authorities asked local residents to remove their attributes such as flags, banners, and FPI secretariat boards that were installed in a number of settlement points.
"The joint decree signed together, FPI activities from today should not be carried out. Both the banners and the existing attribute flyers, we have removed all of them, "said Heru.
Previously, the government banned all activities or activities of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI). This prohibition is contained in a joint decree signed by 6 officials.
"So with this prohibition (FPI) does not have a legal standing, to the central government and local government officials if there is an organization acting on behalf of FPI it is deemed to not exist and must be rejected because there is no legal standing as of today," said the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security, Mahfud MD.
This joint decree was signed by Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, National Police Chief General Idham Azis, Head of the Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Boy Rafli Amar .
