Pursuing Suspects Of Persecution, Police In Banjarmasin Almost Became Victim Of Hit-And-Run

BANJARMASIN - Members of the Satreskrim Polresta Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, almost became victims of a hit-and-run while making arrests of suspected perpetrators of abuse.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banjarmasin Police Commissioner Thomas Afrian said the arrest was made after the police received a report that the perpetrator with the initials IW abused his girlfriend on A Yani Street Km5, Banjar Indah Complex.

"The suspect hit the victim which resulted in bruises on her forehead, lips, and strangulation on the neck," said Kompol Thomas as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, January 24.

Based on this report, a team from the Banjarmasin Police Criminal Investigation Unit then arrested the perpetrator.

However, when he was about to be arrested, the suspect, Indra Wahyudiansyah, who was driving a pickup at that time, confronted the officers. The perpetrator tried to escape by crashing his car into a police motorcycle that was trying to block him.

Even though the motorbike was hit, the police managed to avoid it, so they survived and were not injured. While the police motorbike was damaged, it was hit and dragged away by the car driven by the perpetrator.

The perpetrator was then arrested while on the flyover. The perpetrator was charged with multiple articles, namely Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution and Article 212 of the Criminal Code for opposing officers.
