Throughout 2020, The KPK Received 1,748 Gratuity Reports Worth IDR 24.4 Billion

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that it received thousands of reports regarding the receipt of gratuities with a total value of IDR 24.4 billion. This was conveyed by KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata at the 2020 KPK Performance press conference.

"Throughout 2020, the KPK has received 1,748 gratification reports with a total nominal value of Rp24.4 billion," Alex said as quoted by KPK YouTube, Wednesday, December 30.

Of the total reports, 621 gratification reports have been declared as state property. Meanwhile, the value of money that had been deposited by the anti-meat commission to the state reached Rp1.2 billion.

"As much as Rp1.2 billion has been deposited into the state treasury as non-tax state revenue (PNBP)," he said.

The thousands of reports on the receipt of gratuities came from 281 local governments; 60 BUMN and BUMD; 59 state and government agencies; and 32 ministries. Most of these reporters, said Alex, submitted them online by using the Online Gratification (GOL) application.

"With so many reports online it shows that the KPK's reporting facilities have supported convenience. So in fact there is no reason to report gratuities is difficult," he said.

Apart from the issue of gratification reports, Alex also touched on the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN). He said, throughout 2020, the anti-gas commission had succeeded in encouraging compliance with the LHKPN submission to 96.23 percent.

This figure, he said, could be achieved because the KPK has carried out 185 outreach activities to technical guidance regularly this year.

"The KPK has succeeded in encouraging compliance with the submission of LHKP to 96.32 percent from the previous 93 percent in the same period in 2019," he said.

He then detailed, as of December 20, 2020 the KPK received 350,273 LHKPN from a total of 364,052 required to report.

The total consists of 294,245 LHKPN in the executive sector as much as 96.03 percent, 20,295 LHKPN in the legislative sector as much as 93.54 percent, 18,887 LHKPN in the judicative sector as much as 99.11 percent, and 30,624 LHKPN for the BUMN / BUMD sector for 98.14 percent.

After receiving the report, the KPK has followed up by verifying and examining 471 state officials. According to him, this examination is carried out in order to fulfill demands for prosecution and inspection in the context of prevention.

He further explained that the KPK does have the authority to register and examine LHKPN as mandated by Article 7 paragraph (1) letter a of Law 19/2019 which was enhanced through the Corruption Eradication Commission Regulation Number 02 of 2020 as a derivative of the rules.

"This authority is always carried out in order to improve integrity and build accountability of State Administrators, as one of the efforts to prevent Corruption (Tipikor)," he explained.

In the future, he hopes that the LHKPN can become a monitoring instrument, giving confidence to state officials that their reports are examined and supervised. In addition, this report is expected to increase public confidence in the integrity of state administrators, especially those who have made reports.
