One Indonesian Citizen In Singapore Is Exposed To The Corona Virus
JAKARTA - An Indonesian citizen (WNI) who works as a domestic worker contracted the corona virus even though he never traveled to China. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Singapore confirmed that this 44-year-old woman was exposed to the virus because she worked at the home of a Singaporean national.
"The Indonesian citizen does not have a history of traveling to China (People's Republic of China or China) but is a domestic worker from a Singaporean citizen who has also previously been confirmed positive for coronavirus," said the Indonesian Embassy in a written statement as quoted by VOI on Tuesday, February 4 evening.
The Indonesian citizen who is the 21st victim of the corona virus in Singapore is currently receiving intensive care by the medical team at the Singapore General Hospital.
Although the Singapore Ministry of Health has verbally informed the Indonesian Embassy, the identity of the Indonesian citizen cannot be announced because of the Personal Data Protection Act.
Apart from Indonesian citizens, based on the release of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, this country also noted that there were five of its citizens who had no travel history to China and this was the first time this incident.
"The six most recent cases today are the first cases of human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus in Singapore where the six people have no recent history of traveling to China," they explained in their release.
In connection with the spread of the corona virus in the country, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore then reminded all Indonesian citizens in the land of lions to continue to maintain cleanliness and health.
"All Indonesian citizens in Singapore are expected to remain vigilant, maintain health and hygiene, and pay attention to the appeal issued by the Singapore Government through the official channels of the Ministry of Health," they wrote.
It is known, through data compiled from gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com it shows that there have been 20,698 confirmed cases of the corona virus. The greatest number of cases is still occurring in mainland China, with the number of cases reaching 20,490. Whereas in Singapore there were 24 cases of the corona virus that occurred.
As for all these cases, the total number of victims who died reached 427 people and victims that could be cured reached 726 people.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, there has not been the spread of the corona virus. To prevent the entry of the virus, currently Indonesia has imposed an entry ban for those who hold national passports or those who have recently traveled in mainland China.
In addition, the Indonesian government has stopped the visa-free and visa-on-arrival policies for Chinese citizens. However, it is not yet known how long this policy will run. Finally, to prevent the spread of the virus, the government has also temporarily canceled a number of direct flights to and from China.
