JAKARTA - Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri has her 76th birthday today, Monday, January 23. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, said Megawati did not hold an open house to celebrate specifically and only gather with family and friends.
"Today he (Megawati) celebrates his birthday and we all pray that Mrs. Mega will get the gifts of longevity, health, happiness and continue to lead the party struggle so that the PDI-P is truly more devoted, more able to realize the ideals of the nation's founders, especially Bung Karno," said Hasto in his statement, Monday, January 23. According to Hasto, Megawati had conveyed her wish at the 50th PDIP anniversary some time ago. Through the leadership of Mrs. Megawati we were all taught about truth politics, the strength of the heart, political beliefs and revolutionary patience," he continued.
However, Hasto said, at the anniversary Megawati, the cadres held a 'Caring for the Motherland' event through simultaneous reforestation throughout Indonesia.
