Feeling Haried By Proliga 2023 Referee, Palembang Bank SumselBabel Disappointed With Protests
JAKARTA - Head coach of the Palembang men's volleyball team, Bank SumselBabel Youngtaek Lee, felt that his team was harmed by the referee's decision when they faced Jakarta BNI 46 in the first round of the third week of PLN Mobile Proliga 2023.
In the first round of 43 matches which took place at the PSCC venue, Palembang, South Sumatra, Sunday, January 22 evening, Palembang Bank SumselBabel lost to Jakarta BNI 46 with a score of 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25.23).
"I don't want to comment, because I'm not satisfied or tend to be harmed by the referee's decision tonight," Young said, during a press conference after the match.
Young assessed that in that match his team should have received several crucial points, but was ruled out by the ball referee and fell off the outside of the line.
"Well, I don't know whether (the decision) was intentional or not by the refereeing team on duty," he was also quoted as saying by ANTARA.
He explained that the statement was not made to discredit the capabilities of the referee, but rather as a joint evaluation material for the advancement of the Nusantara volleyball sport.
Because, according to him, the condition of the debate with the referee regarding whether the ball was legitimate or not was not the first time experienced by Palembang Bank SumselBabel.
In fact, most of the teams that competed in the first round of Proliga 2023 also experienced disappointment with the referee's decision.
"This is why we suggested from the start that every match must be equipped with technology that can help referees work, such as video challenges/VAR to ensure the legitimate truth does not (so there is no debate)," he said.
Palembang Bank SumselBabel closed the first round of PLN Mobile Proliga 2023 with six points, which put them in sixth place in the standings.
In the Palembang series, the team nicknamed The Challenger played three home games. The result was that two matches ended in defeat, namely from Jakarta BNI 46 and Jakarta LavAni Allo Bank lost 3-2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 15-12), on Thursday (19/1). One victory was won against Kudus Sukun Badak on Saturday (21/1) with a score of 3-1 (23-25, 20-25, 25-22, 22-25).
