2020 KPK Work Results: 109 People Become Suspects, Including 2 Advanced Indonesian Cabinet Ministers
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that throughout 2020, they had named 109 suspects. This was conveyed by Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango when delivering the KPK performance records throughout 2020.
"This year, the KPK has named 109 people as suspects from a total of 91 investigation warrants that we published," Nawawi said in a press conference broadcast online on the KPK RI YouTube account, Wednesday, December 30.
Of the 109 suspects appointed by the anti-gas commission, two of them were former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo and former Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Peter Batubara. Edhy was named a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to the export of lobster fries or seeds which was initiated by a hand-catching operation (OTT).
Meanwhile, Juliari was named a suspect in the case of alleged bribery for the provision of COVID-19 social assistance (bansos) within the Ministry of Social Affairs in 2020.
In addition to determining 109 suspects, this year the KPK has carried out 111 investigations, 91 investigations, 75 prosecutions, 92 incidents and 108 executions.
Not only that, Nawawi also detailed a number of achievements at the KPK's Directorate of Investigation throughout 2020, namely the achievements of the second stage case or the submission of suspects and evidence to the public prosecutor (JPU) for 78 cases. Meanwhile, there are 130 ongoing cases, with 67 cases being carry-over and 63 cases having been published this year.
Furthermore, the number of people questioned by KPK investigators in all cases currently reaches 5,616 witnesses and 160 suspects.
Next, the search was carried out in the case handling process in the year 53 times while 161 seizures were confiscated.
"Then for the arrest and detention of the suspect carried out in 2020 as many as 11 people for arrest and 108 for detention," he said.
Meanwhile, the number of wanted lists (DPO) issued by the KPK has reached 10, of which three have been arrested. Those who have been arrested are former Secretary of the Supreme Court (MA) Nurhadi and his son-in-law who is a private party, namely Rezky Herbiyono; and Hiendra Soenjoto who is the gratification provider for Nurhadi and his son-in-law.
Meanwhile those who are still on the run are Harun Masiku who is a former PDI-P candidate who bribed the former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan; Kirana Kotama who is a suspect in the 2014 procurement case for the SSV vessel for the Philippine government that involved PT PAL; Sjamsul Nursalim and his wife, Itjih Nursalim, who were suspects in the BLBI case; Izil Azhar who was caught in the case of the Aceh Governor's gratification for the period 2007-2012; Surya Darmadi, who was caught in a bribery case related to the conversion of forest functions in Riau Province; and Samin Tan, who gave bribes to former DPR RI member Eni Maulani Saragih in the Riau-1 PLTU case.
"Against the DPOs that have not been found, the KPK is still making various efforts together with Indonesian police colleagues in an effort to find suspects," he concluded.
