Shooting During Chinese New Year Celebration In Los Angeles Died 10 People
JAKARTA - At least 10 people died in mass shootings at a nightclub that held a Chinese New Year (Imlek) celebration near Los Angeles, United States, police told local media.
At least 10 other people were injured when the perpetrator opened fire at the nightclub in Monterey Par on Saturday night, according to a Los Angeles Times report, citing the LA County Police Department.
The shooting took place in a dance hall at around 22.20 local time (Sunday, 13.20 WIB) at Monterey Park, as reported by the LA Daily News daily newspaper, citing police officials.
"It looks like" the incident is a single incident, Deputy Tracy Koerner said, as reported by Antara.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the shooting took place at Garvey Avenue. Citing a law enforcement source, the newspaper stated that the death toll "could be more than a dozen people".
Located in the eastern part of California City, Montery Park has a population of 61,000 people, about 65 percent of whom are of Asian descent, according to a LA Daily News report.
