JAKARTA - The Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Tri Rismaharini, said that he would empower residents living around the Gedong Panjang Pluit Toll Road, Jakarta, through the pecel catfish micro business. with the aim of improving the standard of living.

In fact, he personally admitted that he would inaugurate the pecel catfish micro business program when it was realized.

"You all believe it, if I officiated there would be many who bought it," he said.

When meeting residents who live in the Panjang Gedong toll road area, the Minister's nickname, Risma, said that he would not prohibit and allow men if they wanted to collect waste.

"Gentlemen, it is okay to earn money while remaining as scavengers. Later, our mothers will teach us how to earn money," said the former Surabaya mayor.

To the occupants of the huts and illegal buildings under the toll road, Risma conveyed the same message as the residents on the riverbanks whom she had previously met. He motivated them to have the spirit to improve their standard of life while offering empowerment programs.

Not only adults and parents, Risma also motivates children to continue their education and not drop out of school. In fact, he promised to provide scholarships for high-achieving children.

"Come on, the kids have to be smart kids. Mother will give you a scholarship, yes. Prove that you can be successful even though you are currently residents under toll roads," he said.

Risma emphasized that if you want to change your fate, you have to go through education. These steps have been taken and proven especially for children from underprivileged families while serving as Mayor of Surabaya.

The children of scavengers, masons, patchworkers and masseuses who were facilitated by Risma's education already hold many bachelor degrees.
