NTT Lembata Regency Government Add Personnel To Watch The Port Of Preventing African Babi Flu Diseases
The Department of Agriculture and Food Security of Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has added personnel to monitor the traffic of residents at seaports to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF) from entering the area."Our personnel or officers added one to two people to help those who are already at five port points, namely Lewoleba City, Waijarang, Wulandoni, Balauring, and Buyasuri," said Head of the Lembata Regency Agriculture and Food Security Office Kanisius Tuaq when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Friday, January 20.Kanisius explained that the personnel stationed at the port as the entrance to the sea route in Lembata carried out inspections of goods carried by residents who got off the ship.One of the entrances that is closely monitored is ships from the East Flores Regency area which are known to have been cases of ASF disease.He said the personnel were also tasked with conveying appeals through loudspeakers in the operational cars of the Communications and Information Office when ships docked at Lewoleba Port.Kanisius said that until now Lembata Regency is still free from ASF disease in pigs so that the local government continues to strengthen it in terms of prevention.In addition to these steps, he said, his party also did not allow the procurement of pigs from the village government."So we don't give permission or recommendations for the Village Fund to shop for pigs from outside," he said.Kanisius added that the local government has issued a ban on everyone bringing pigs and pork products from outside the region and urging residents to take preventive measures such as cleaning pigs and cages and others to prevent the transmission of ASF.
