Police Investigate Alleged Prokes Violations When Thousands Participate In The Funeral Of Habib Hasan Assegaf In Pasuruan

SURABAYA - Head of East Java (Jatim) Police Inspector General Nico Afinta confirmed that his party would thoroughly investigate the alleged violation of health protocols at the funeral of Habib Hasan bin Muhammad bin Hud Assegaf in Pasuruan City.

"We, from the ranks of the provincial COVID-19 Task Force, began working last night with the Pasuruan City COVID-19 Task Force to investigate suspected violations of health protocols," said Inspector General Nico, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 29.

Not only conducting investigations, the Regional Police Chief also said that he would carry out testing and tracing (tracking) of the people who gathered at Habib Hasan's funeral.

Inspector General Nico said that this investigation was carried out because of an alleged violation of the health protocol in the midst of the government's efforts to address the problem of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, in the last month there has been a significant increase in cases in Indonesia, including in East Java.

Based on the latest developments as of December 28, 2020, there was an increase of 784 cases with the number of active cases in care reaching 6,221 cases.

Meanwhile, the cumulative total of cases since the beginning of the pandemic in East Java has reached 81,532 cases.

"We ask the whole community to support the implementation of health protocols, because many have fallen victims related to this COVID-19. We beg to comply with health protocols by wearing masks, stay away from crowds, and wash hands. Protect yourself and others with health protocols," he said .

In addition, the East Java Police Chief also expressed deep sorrow for the death of Habib Hasan. He prayed that the deceased would have the best place in the sight of Allah SWT and the family he left behind would be given patience.
