Slowly But Surely, The Number Of Stunting In NTT Decreased To 13,629 Cases As Of December 2022
The East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government said the number of children who were still stunted in the area reached 13,629 people out of 77,000 children who suffered from stunting in 22 districts/cities in NTT."Through the hard work carried out by the NTT government, the child stunting rate decreased from 77,000 children in 2018 to 13,629 children in December 2022," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in a written statement from the Protocol and Administration Section of the NTT Provincial Secretariat received in Kupang, Antara, Thursday, January 19.Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat said this was related to President Joko Widodo's instructions for local governments to continue to make efforts to control stunting or stunting.Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat said the efforts to handle stunting carried out by the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government were more focused on the availability of nutritious food for the needs of children under five who were in the process of growth to prevent stunting.He said that when he was appointed as Governor of NTT together with Deputy Governor Josef A Nae Soi in 2018 the number of children who experienced stunting in NTT was 77,000 children, but through various interventions in economic empowerment programs and providing additional food for children, this number continued to decline."The decline in the number of children experiencing stunting is proof of the hard work and spirit of cooperation between the government, both provincial and district/city, together with related parties such as the TNI/Polri and the community who continue to make various efforts to handle child stunting," said Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat.Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat encourages the people of NTT to plant kelor plants that are nutritional to be given to pregnant women and children who are in the process of growth to prevent stunting or stunting.
