Sad Experience Of Minister Of Health Budi Gunadi, Kapok Berbat Di Rumah Hospital Bogor

BOGOR - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin told his sad experience when he took his mother for treatment at a hospital in Bogor because the hospital facilities were not adequate.

This was stated by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi during the inauguration of the Block I and IV Buildings at the Bogor City Hospital, Thursday, January 19. He reminisced about the past when his mother had a stroke and lost time for medical quickly handling.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi said that when his mother was initially suffering from a stroke, she immediately referred to a state-owned hospital. However, the hospital is not equipped with a Computed Tomography Scan or CT Scan.

"The experience was when my mother had a stroke. At that time, I was still the director of Bank Mandiri and (mother) I was referred to a hospital owned by the TNI. When I got there there there was no CT scan. So it couldn't be checked," said Minister of Health Budi Gunadi.

Budi also asked for his mother's treatment to be transferred to PMI Bogor. Arriving at PMI, the CT scan tool was limited and had to queue up, due to late treatment, his mother was disabled.

Budi explained that stroke was the biggest disease from death, 350 thousand a year and people who had a 65 percent stroke were disabled, 20 percent died, and 15 percent died. "So my mother is disabled. After (the incident), I gave her treatment at the Bogor hospital. When my mother's father had cancer, just take her to the Jakarta Hospital. Because I know, my mother's experience lost the golden prime during stroke treatment," he recalled.

This is also what underlies Budi when he is appointed as Minister of Health to carry out a major transformation in the health sector, especially health services.

The construction of this health support facility, continued Budi, was carried out in collaboration between the central government, provincial governments, and cities/districts.

He said, gradually the government will complete 514 regencies/cities so that they can intervene in health, starting from handling heart disease, stroke, to cancer.

"Three diseases have the most victims in Indonesia. The heart, stroke and cancer. We want to make sure 514 regencies/cities can provide basic services and now around 55 percent of the total number of hospitals," added Minister of Health Budi Gunadi.
