Central Java Police Endus Efforts To Dismantrate NGOs When TRYing Mediation Of Child RAPE Cases In Brebes
JAKARTA - The police are investigating the alleged extortion committed by NGOs in the alleged rape of a 15-year-old child by six people in Brebes Regency, Central Java.
"Development of NGOs who mediated the case was between the victim's family and the perpetrator," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Iqbal Alqudusy in Semarang, Thursday, January 19, quoted from Antara.
The police have received a report against the Indonesian Patriot Peduli (BPPI) NGO which mediated the alleged crime.
The report, he said, came from one of the perpetrators' families on suspicion of extortion or embezzlement.
"Later, a case will be held by the Brebes Police, if sufficient evidence will be increased from investigation to investigation," he said.
Previously, the police arrested six perpetrators of alleged rape of a 15-year-old child in Brebes Regency.
The six arrested perpetrators were AF (14), FH (16), DAP (17), AM (15), AI (19), AM (15), all of whom are residents of Tanjung District, Brebes Regency.
For their actions, the suspects will be charged with Law Number 23 of 2022 concerning child protection.
The alleged rape of WD, a resident of Sengon Village, Tanjung District, Brebes Regency, occurred in around December 2022.
The incident was resolved peacefully by one of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the village, without involving the police.
In the mediation witnessed by a number of community leaders, the victim's family was also asked to sign a letter of agreement which would not report the case to the police.
