COVID-19 update as of January 17: 357 New Cases, 6,619 Active Cases

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 Handling Task Force released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 39,798 specimens were examined with the results of 357 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,726,668 people and active cases decreased by 222 to 6,619 cases", it was quoted as saying from data from the COVID-19 Task Force, Tuesday, January 17.

Today's recovered cases increased by 572 people, bringing a total of 6,559,303 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 7 cases and a total of 160,746 people.

The province with the newest cases is DKI Jakarta with 111 cases and a total of 1,538,446 cases. Followed by West Java with 100 new cases with a total of 1,234,136 cases. Banten 36 new cases and a total of 365,604 cases. East Java had 28 new cases and a total of 637,297 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 194 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 60 recovered cases, Central Java with an additional 53 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 50 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 114,459,028.

"The positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 1.58 percent", it wrote.

The number of people who are suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases is recorded at 1,892 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.

Currently, 204,131,208 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 174,938,222 of the second dose of vaccination. Then, the third dose of vaccination was 69,013,876 and the fourth dose was 1,217,295. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 234,666,020 people.
