Simeulue Residents Hope That The Rising Goods Price Will Be Impacted By The Feri Ship Tariff Adjustment, The Aceh Governor's Letter Government

ACEH - The Simeulue Regency Government (Pemkab) wrote to the Aceh Governor to request a review of the decision regarding the adjustment of shipping rates for cross-commercial ferries between districts and cities within the Aceh region.Acting Regional Secretary (Plt) of Simeulue Asludin Regency said the adjustment of ship transport rates had an effect on the prices of a number of basic commodities in the island district."The adjustment of ferry transport rates to Simeulue Island has an impact on rising prices for goods that are burdensome to the community's economy," said Asludin in Simeulue, Antara, Tuesday, January 17.In the letter, said Asludin, the Simeulue Regency Government asked the Aceh Governor to revise the ship's tariff given the public's anxiety about the increase in crossing transport rates."We hope that the Governor of Aceh will grant the public's request for Simeulue Island. The ship's tariff adjustment causes an increase in prices, especially basic needs," said Asludin.Shipping from Simeulue Island to a number of ports on the island of Sumatra is served by ferries. The ship's fare to Calang Port in Aceh Jaya Regency is Rp. 84 thousand for adults and motorized vehicles ranging from Rp. 131 thousand to Rp. 2.61 million.Passenger rates to Labuhan Haji Port in South Aceh Regency are Rp. 58,000 and motorized vehicles range from Rp. 85 thousand to Rp. 6.9 million.Next to Singkil Port in Aceh Singkil Regency (PP) is an adult passenger ticket of Rp. 51 thousand. And motorized vehicles range from Rp. 79 thousand to Rp. 7.6 million.Simeulue Regency is the outermost archipelago region in Aceh Province. Simeulue Island is in the Indian Ocean which is about 180 nautical miles from the west coast of Sumatra Island.Simeulue Regency has been a division of West Aceh Regency since 1999. Simeulue Regency has 10 sub-districts with 138 gampongs or villages inhabited by around 94 thousand people.
