The DPR Baleg Agrees To Revision The Village Law, Just Wait For The Government
JAKARTA - The Legislation Body of the DPR (DPR) approved the revision of Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages after hundreds of village heads held a demonstration in front of the DPR Building, Senayan, Tuesday, January 17. The village heads from all over Indonesia requested that their term of office be changed from 6 years to 9 years.Member of Commission II from the PKB faction M. Toha, explained that all factions in the DPR had agreed to revise the Village Law. Both during meetings at Commission II DPr and at the DPR Baleg."In Commission II, in Baleg, all of them are also in the faction. Everyone agrees," said Toha after meeting the masses at the DPR Building, Senayan, Tuesday, January 17.In fact, continued Toha, this aspiration has been conveyed directly to the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian and has been agreed."Then I accumulated it during a meeting in Commission II and even conveyed it to Mr. Tito as Minister of Home Affairs for revision immediately and Mr. Tito replied, yes, it will be soon," he said.Not only the Minister of Home Affairs, Toha said the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration of PDTT Abdul Halim Iskandar also knew about the wishes of the village heads to revise the Village Law."I have also met the Minister of Villages, Gus (Abdul Halim, ed). He agreed that he had even planned to make a kind of DIM, yes. A kind OF DI, or ideas or foundations like that," said Toha.Nevertheless, Toha said, currently the DPR is just waiting for the government to discuss the continuation of the revision of the Village Law which has been proposed to Baleg."Yesterday when we had an audience with commission II, we finally accepted it and we have submitted the initiative to Baleg, yes. Well, we just have to wait for the government, so it must be both, the DPR and the government," he explained.This PKB politician said, if the government has given the green light, the process of submitting a revision of the Village Law can be immediately forwarded to Baleg."If the government is ready, this can work. Later we will ask by way that the baleg has prioritized it to be the priority scale in 2023, we will discuss this," he said.The member of the DPR Baleg added that in the revision of the Village Law later, it will not only focus on the term of office of the village head which is the demand of the village head from 6 years to 9 years.
