Many Old Wells In Indonesia, The Task Force Uses This Method To Increase Oil And Gas Production
JAKARTA - The government continues to make improvements to anticipate the fulfillment of domestic energy needs in the future.
However, Indonesia is also facing a decline in oil and gas production because many old wells often experience decline.
Head of the Center for Oil and Gas Testing, Lemigas Ariana Soemanto, said that the optimization of old wells continues to be encouraged in an effort to increase national oil and gas production.
According to him, many gas wells are experiencing water blocking which is due to natural thinning, water breaking and passivities in formation, in the form of liquids that collect in wells.
"This results in an increase in hydrostatic pressure and back pressure into formation, so gas production will experience a significant decline, and the worst possibility is that wells will die," he told reporters, Tuesday, January 17.
Overcoming this, continued Ariana, an agent named Organic Foaming Agent is an innovation based on Lemigas' idea.
"This agency is produced to overcome water blocking problems in gas wells with organic additives that are safe for reservoirs, production equipment and environmentally friendly," said Ariana.
"The Lemigas Exploitation Laboratory processes porang tubers and plant-based fatty acids from CPOs, into organic foaming agents capable of transforming water into foam to reduce water density, so that gas can flow and be re-produced," he continued.
The Daily Executive of the Coordinator for the EXploitation of Oil and Gas, Yohannes B Doi Wange added, this agent foaming compound also withstands high temperature and salinity, and is compatible with formation water.
"This innovation is the best solution to the water blocking problem on gas wells," he added.
Until now, the organic Foaming Agent innovation has been further developed through testing several water formation samples, both from gas and oil wells. It is hoped that this technological innovation will be an alternative to help smooth gas well production operations.
