Kenang Awal Pandemi COVID-19, Jokowi: Kita Lintang-panting Cari PPE Hingga Oksigen
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recalled the early moments of the COVID-19 pandemic entering the country in 2020. He said that at that time the government had to step back to save the community.
This was conveyed by Jokowi when opening the Regional Head Coordination Meeting and FKPD throughout Indonesia at SICC, West Java, Tuesday, January 17.
"Kita ingat saat pandemi, kita pontang-panting mencari yang namanya PPE (alat perlindungan diri), pontang-panting mencari yang namanya masker," kata Jokowi dikutip dari tayangan YouTube Sekretariat Presiden, Selasa, 17 Januari.
In addition, Jokowi remembers when the government tried to find a COVID-19 vaccine and oxygen when the Delta variant spread and caused many patients to die. "It was very tense at that time," he said.
Despite the pontang-panting, the former governor of DKI Jakarta said that Indonesia was able to control COVID-19. Jokowi said that this success was the fruit of the work of regional heads and related stakeholders.
"Once again, thanks to our hard work we are able to control COVID-19," he said.
Jokowi said, the government at that time was completely in control of the COVID-19 pandemic. "We really have total football," he said.
"This totality is evident from many things," said Jokowi. One of them is the provision of a COVID-19 vaccine for people in the country.
Jokowi said that up to now 448 million doses of vaccine have been given to the public. According to him, giving this vaccine is not an easy thing but because it is carried out by all parties, the target achievement of hundreds of millions of recipients can be met.
"Because the TNI came, the Iku Police, all governors, mayors to the RT level, all of which helped us to finish COVID-19 well," said Jokowi.
"Ask in other countries whether or not there is a total handling of us," he concluded.
