Jasa Marga Predicts December 31 To Be The Peak Of New Year's Holiday Vehicle Flow

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk estimates that the peak flow of vehicles leaving Jakarta during the New Year 2021 holiday will occur on Thursday, December 31. An estimated 198 thousand cars exit through the four main Toll Gates (GT).

"Jasa Marga projects that the peak volume of traffic leaving Jakarta during the New Year 2021 holiday will occur on Thursday (31/12) amounting to 198.3 thousand vehicles via 4 main GTs, an increase of 41.1 percent from new normal traffic," said Corporate Communication & Community Development Group Head, Dwimawan Heru, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 28.

Meanwhile, the peak of vehicles returning to Jakarta, he said, will occur on Sunday, January 3, 2021, amounting to 205.5 thousand vehicles via four main GTs, an increase of 18.5 percent from traffic in the new normal.

"Jasa Marga urges toll road users to anticipate trips before entering the toll road," he said.

Drivers are asked to ensure that the vehicle is in prime condition, adhere to health protocols, especially when at rest areas, fill up fuel, and have sufficient electronic money balances.

Jasa Marga recorded 284,085 vehicles heading to Jakarta on D + 1 and D + 2 on the Christmas holidays or December 26-27. This figure is the cumulative traffic flow of several main GTs, namely Cikampek Utama and Kalihurip Utama (east direction), Cikupa (west direction) and Ciawi (south direction).

"On Sunday, December 27, the volume of traffic bound for Jakarta was recorded at 158,868 vehicles. This number was higher than the previous day, which recorded 125,217 vehicles. The traffic volume on Sunday, December 27 decreased by 8.4 percent compared to the new normal traffic. "said Heru.

For the distribution of traffic to Jakarta from the three directions on Sunday, December 27, the majority was 54.43 percent from the east, 26.68 percent from the west and 18.89 percent from the south.

The number of vehicles heading to Jakarta via GT Cikampek Utama 2 was 49,876 vehicles from the east, an increase of 17.3 percent from normal. Meanwhile, vehicle traffic from the eastern direction to Jakarta via GT Kalihurip Utama 2 was recorded at 36,597 vehicles, down 19.1 percent from normal.

"The total number of vehicles heading to Jakarta from the east is 86,473 vehicles, a decrease of 1.5 percent from normal traffic," said Heru.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles from the west heading to Jakarta via GT Cikupa Merak-Tangerang Toll Road was 42,391 vehicles, a decrease of 3.3 percent from normal.

The number of vehicles from the south or locally via GT Ciawi 2 heading to Jakarta via Jagorawi Toll Road is 30,004 vehicles, a decrease of 28.3 percent from normal.
