Mentawir Embung Development In IKN Nusantara Has Achieved 96 Percent
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that the progress of the Mentawir Embung development has reached 96 percent in order to support the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago as a forest city.
"The progress of the Mentawir Embung construction has now reached 96 percent," said Head of the Task Force for the Implementation of IKN Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of PUPR Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Sunday, January 15.
Danis said that the reservoir was ready to provide water to the seedlings or nutrients.
The development of IKN carries a smart forest city concept. In order to support IKN as a forest city, a fairly large nursery is needed.
"To prepare a fairly wide seed garden, water availability is needed, so the Ministry of PUPR supports the seed garden by building the Mentawir Embung," said Danis.
The Ministry of PUPR built a reservoir with a capacity of 160 thousand cubic meters to supply raw water for plant seeds at the Modern Mentawir Machining Center, North Penajam Paser, IKN Nusantara area.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said his party would provide support for raw water infrastructure through the construction of reservoirs to meet the water needs for tree seedlings on a large scale, as has been done by the Ministry of PUPR at the Modern Rumpin Makeian Center, Bogor, West Java.
The convexity is a raw water provider by utilizing the Mandahan River which is located next to the nursery facility and has a width of approximately 5 meters x 0.3 meters with a discharge of 225 liters per second. The Mentawir nurseries are located in Mentawir Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, with an area of approximately nine hectares and a production capacity of 15 million/year seeds.
