There Have Been Findings Of 19 Bad Nutrition Children In Jakarta, Head Of BKKBN: Fast-Stunting BASS Program
Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo responded to the case of 19 children suffering from malnutrition in Pejaten Barat Village, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
Hasto said the findings were very reasonable, when he saw the number of toddlers reaching 790 thousand and the prevalence of stunting in the capital city was more than 14 percent.
"You can imagine 14 percent of stunting. That means, there are still around 110 thousand stunting toddlers in DKI. Naturally, in Pejaten there are still 19 poor nutrition children," said Hasto in a written statement, quoted on Saturday, January 14.
He explained that the prevalence of stunting in DKI Jakarta is the second lowest after Bali. According to Hasto, the 14 percent stunting prevalence rate is still quite good. This is because there are still other areas with higher stunting prevalence rates than Jakarta.
"Jakarta is not high, West Sulawesi, NTT, NTB, Papua, Aceh is much higher," he said.
The condition of malnutrition in children, said Hasto, can actually be overcome. BKKBN itself, he continued, has the program of Mr. Asuh Anak Stunting (BAAS), where donors can provide assistance to provide nutrition intervention to children at risk of stunting.
"In Jakarta, there are many entrepreneurs, many rich people. I hope that the program of Mr. Asuh Anak Stunting will be successful in DKI and will quickly reduce stunting and extreme poverty," he said.
Then, Hasto also explained how to become Mr. Asuh Anak Stunting, one of which was through the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) and the Stunting Task Force which would receive and regulate, as well as embed data on children at risk of stunting in the area, so that they could receive assistance and assistance.
"Outside of DKI there is data on families with high risk of stunting. I think the system in DKI will regulate that, but specifically DKI has its own data based on Jakarta search," he said.
Regarding the case of 19 children suffering from malnutrition, Hasto also said that he would immediately communicate with the Acting Governor (Pj) of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
"I will communicate with the Governor. So far, DKI has not followed the BKKBN data collection system," he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that 19 children were experiencing malnutrition and comorbidities in Pejaten Barat Village. This incident was known based on the results of the identification of village officials and the West Pejaten Health Center in September 2022.
