JAKARTA - Two youths were involved in a beating at a rented house in Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta on Wednesday, January 11.
The incident began when the victim with the initials OPF (21) did not accept that his wife was being teased by the Constitutional Court (23). The OPF victim who just woke up then pushed the Constitutional Court, who at that time entered his rented room.
Instead of apologizing, he attacked the OPF by strangling the neck and beating the victim.
The commotion drew the attention of residents who came to the scene. In order to avoid the tantrums of residents, the Cengkareng Police Criminal Investigation Unit then secured the Constitutional Court to the Cengkareng Police Headquarters.
Cengkareng Police Chief Kompol Ardhie Demastyo confirmed the incident. But now, the case has been resolved because the victim and perpetrator have resolved the problem with deliberation.
"The resolution of the problem through Restorative Justice is a directive from the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The rules are in accordance with the Supreme Court Regulation and the National Police Chief Regulation," said Kompol Ardhie when confirmed, Friday, January 13.
The day after the incident, the victim and the perpetrator were mediated. The victim also withdrew the police report under Article 351 of the Criminal Code.
"Both parties agreed to make peace and did not continue the case to the realm of law. They made a statement signed by stamp," he said.
