Capai Rp37.78 Trillion, Sales Of CD Ungguli Black Plates For The First Time In 35 Years

JAKARTA - Blacklists sell more than CDs for the first time in 35 years, according to figures released by the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA).

overall music sales increased by three percent in 2022 to nearly 2 billion or approximately IDR 37.78 trillion. This is the highest figure since 2003 and nearly double their low point in 2013.

According to published figures, physical sales did drop slightly by 3.8 percent to 280.4 million pounds (Rp 5.29 trillion), but were flattened as vinyl formats showed continued growth while CDs declined.

The sales of vinyl albums grew 11 percent to 150.5 million, while CD album sales, on the other hand, fell 17.4 percent to 124 million. This is the first time vinyl sales have surpassed the CD value since 1987.

As Music Week notes, the initial figure is different from the BPI (Business Process Improvement) market figure itself, because they monitor retail sales revenues tracked by the Official Charts Company rather than units.

"We are close to an important period," said ERA CEO Kim Bayley in a statement. Thanks to investing and investing in streaming services on the one hand and to physical retailers who have pushed for vinyl revival on the other, music can achieve retail sales value exceeding 2 billion (Rp 5.29 trillion) for the first time in more than two decades.

"Music should be good to catch people's attention, but it's the buying and consuming experience that eventually persuades people to put their hands in their pockets."

Harry Styles' Harry's House is the best-selling album of the year and spawned the biggest single sales/streaming on the song As It Was.

Another major release for physical album sales includes Taylor Swift and The Car from the Arctic Monkeys.
