U2 Prepares A Song-Interpreted Completion Album, Titled Songs Of Subscription
JAKARTA - Ireland's rock unit, U2 announced a new compilation album of songs that were changed and re-recorded, titled Songs Of Surdender.
The announcement follows a letter sent by guitarist The Edge to fans. The contents, regarding the compilation album.
When a song becomes famous, it is always associated with a certain sound. I can't imagine Tangled Up In Blue without Bob Dylan's redy timbre or All The Time in the World without Louis Armstrong's unique sound," The Edge began the letter, quoted from NME, Wednesday.
"So what happens when a sound develops and experiences and maturity gives him additional resonances?" continued the guitarist.
The Edge continues to explain that most of U2's works were written and recorded when the personnel were very young and those songs had changed over the years, being something meaningful and very different for us now.
"Some have grown up with us," he wrote. Some have passed, but we don't forget what prompted us to write those songs from the start. The essence of these songs is still in us. But how do we reconnect with its essence when we progress and grow so much?
He added that U2 envisions bringing their old songs to this day and giving them a "21st century reconstruction concept". "Once we give up our respect for the original version, every song begins to open up for this new authentic sound, from our current people, and especially the singer who became Bono," he wrote. "I hope you like our new direction."
