Ridwan Kamil Forbids Its Citizens To Celebrate The New Year Ending Crowding

JAKARTA - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has prohibited all West Java residents from holding New Year 2021 celebrations by holding events that invite large numbers of people and end in crowds.

Kang Emil, his nickname, said that this ban was made to avoid a potential spike in positive cases of COVID-19 during the year-end holidays.

Regents / mayors must also implement the same rules, especially areas that have many tourist destinations that have the potential to be visited by many people.

Because in such a situation, there is a high probability that droplets will fly into the air from sneezing or coughing, chatting for more than 15 minutes, karaoke or speech, and blowing trumpets.

"I appeal to all West Java residents in welcoming the new year 2021 not to carry out crowd-pleasing activities in its events," said Kang Emil at Pakuan Building, Bandung, West Java, Sunday, December 27.

Kang Emil said, the number of COVID-19 cases in West Java had increased during the experience of the previous three long holidays, namely during the Eid Al-Fitr, Independence Day holidays, and the Prophet's Birthday holiday.

"The increasing trend after the long holiday has made efforts to balance the government between health management and economic recovery seem futile," he said.

Furthermore, Emil also issued Circular Number 202 / KPG.03.05 / HUKHAM concerning the Prohibition of the New Year 2021 Celebration and the Prevention of Crowd crowds addressed to all regents / mayors throughout West Java Province.

There are three things that all stakeholders need to avoid in New Year's activities, namely crowds, crowds, and movement of people. "We reduce the crowd, we reduce activities that invite crowds and movement of people," he concluded.
